Will November 9th End Political Talk in the Guild Wars 2 PvP Lobby?

In recent weeks, politically charged talk in the PvP lobby chat has been so dominating that it would be fair to assume that the instigators are not actually there to play PvP. With everyone so spread out in the game, focused on whichever task they are to complete, trolls have no choice but to confine their political speak to the lobby, as those in the PvP queue have nothing to do but wait the long minute and a half to be matched up with others.

For those lucky enough to have a steady group of people to play with, or to find a team party early on in the day that one works well with, this discourse (if it can be graced with that name) is mostly in the background. As a weekend worker…I envy you, friends.

However, let’s not kid ourselves. This isn’t going to stop with the passing of the 8th. But the tension will have been released. We will all have decided to move on with our lives. It just seems worse now because the trolls are talking about something that matters. Once the decision has been made, they will go back to talking about things that don’t matter, whether it’s political or not. And that’s the spirit of trolling, really. On Wednesday, we’re going to realize just how much we really miss that.
